Kathleen Thompson Hill Kitchen Memories Collection

“Julia Child brought fine cooking to the United States.  M.F.K. Fisher romanticized and wrote about it.  Kathleen Thompson Hill collected, curated and documented the historical culinary collection.”
– Jean-Charles Boisset

Everyone has a kitchen memory.  The kitchen sparks curiosity, encourages gathering, and arouses emotions.  Kathleen’s Kitchen Memories Collection perfectly intertwines themes of nostalgia, innovation, and culture seamlessly.  We are inspired to remember, to wonder, to feel.

About

Author, food, and travel writer, Kathleen Thompson Hill, served as the food and wine writer for the Sonoma-Index Tribute from 2009 – 2022.  She has been collecting culinary tools for decades – many from California, when she traveled inexpensively throughout the state with her husband Gerald Hill.  Others came from around the world, such as France, England, and Canada to name a few.  Some pieces date back as far as the 1800s.  What they each have in common is that they were purchased on a $3 budget until Kathleen increased the amount to $8.  Since then, Kathleen has amassed the largest collection of historical kitchen utensils in the United States.

Jean-Charles Boisset and Kathleen have known one another since Buena Vista Winery became a part of the Boisset Collection.  Kathleen personally toured Jean-Charles, his wife Gina, and his parents through Kitchen Memories when the Sonoma Valley Museum of Art presented the exhibit in 2013.  Being deeply passionate about food, wine, history, and preservation, Jean-Charles was inspired to preserve the collection and share it with others.  The Kathleen Thompson Hill Kitchen Memories Collection will be on permanent exhibit at DeLoach Vineyards.
